MSOA welcomes Presidential Guest Speaker Marshall K. Steele, M.D.

Dr. Marshall K. Steele started his practice in 1977 as a solo practitioner and grew it to 16 sub-specialized orthopedic surgeons. Between 1996 and 2005, he not only practiced medicine but also served as the Medical Director of Surgical Business Development at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland. He was instrumental in helping develop many very successful specialty surgical programs including joint replacement, spine, sports medicine, vascular, wound care, breast and surgical hospitalist.

Dr. Steele has authored 2 books "Sideline Help" (sports medicine) and "Orthopedics and Spine: Strategies for Superior Service Line Performance". Recent articles and presentations include "Thoughts on Lighting up the Dark Side" (AAOS Now) and "The Case for Excellence" (Clinical Orthopedic Research Society). He has consulted with hospital systems and surgeons throughout the world. In 2006, Dr. Steele retired from surgery to create Marshall | Steele. His vision for transforming healthcare is to implement focused patient designed service lines that can be effectively managed to create more value.

Marshall K. Steele, M.D. will present "Don't Wait and Don't Paint the Shack"--a presentation about how orthopaedic practices will be affected by upcoming changes. Physicians, members of the orthopaedic surgical team, and exhibitors are invited to learn about the core elements of excellence, how to collect outcomes with ease, and how to change our thinking and culture. In addition, Dr. Steele will discuss the patient centric care model and how to create an "orthopedic destination center" in your practice and your hospital.
