MSOA Lobby Day April, 2007 MSOA hosted its 2nd Annual MSOA State Lobby Day on Wednesday, April 11. Leaders in the Missouri State Orthopaedic Association met with key healthcare leaders in the Missouri Senate, testified before the House Committee on Health Facilities and enjoyed lunch in the office of Senate President Pro Tem Michael Gibbons (R-Kirkwood). The MSOA lobbying delegation were also introduced on the House and Senate floor.

Lobbying in Washington DC Missouri State Orthopaedic Association members attended the National Orthopaedic Leadership Conference in Washington DC from April 20-22. While in Washington DC, MSOA leadership met with Missouri's federal delegation including Sen. Kit Bond, Congressman Ike Skelton and the staff of Congresswoman JoAnn Emerson, Congressmen Kenny Hulshof and Sam Graves, and Sen Jim Talent. AAOS Board of Councilor members Dirk Alander, MD and Jonathan Grantham, MD; MSOA President Steve Morton; and MSOA executive directors Mary Phillips and Brian Treece lobbied on behalf of medical liability issues, fixing the medicare formula, preserving the role of in-office imaging services, and keeping physicians involved in the diagnosis of physical therapy.
